Meet Victor and Angie, the instructors that will be leading this amazing Broadreach program this summer! With their breadth of expertise and dedication to helping students discover the world and their place in it, they are thrilled to embark on this journey and summer of unforgettable experiences.
Born in Russia but raised in Sweden, Victor speaks Russian, Swedish and English. He fell in love with scuba diving in Thailand while working and traveling in Southeast Asia in 2015. Victor went on to earn his PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification and has taught students from beginner to Divemaster levels in Thailand, Greece and Panama, and is a specialty instructor in Deep, Enriched Air, Wreck, Oxygen Provider and Underwater Photography. Victor has also worked as a teacher in Sweden educating elementary school children in subjects like math and music. When Victor is not working with Broadreach, he travels and works as a scuba instructor. Besides scuba, music is Victor's other passion and he carries his guitar within him throughout his travels. Victor joined Broadreach last summer as the instructor for the Yucatán Advanced Scuba program. This year he is excited about creating lifelong memories with the students on the Philippines Alumni Scuba adventure and looks forward to sharing his passion for the ocean and all the exciting stories that come with it.
Angie grew up in Ontario, Canada, where her love of the water began at a young age in her backyard pool and blossomed as she began teaching swimming lessons. Before graduating from Queen's University with a degree in mathematics and biology, Angie participated in marine biology field courses on the east coast of Canada for an exchange semester. Angie became a certified divemaster in Cozumel, Mexico and earned her instructor certification in Utila, Honduras, where she stayed for 9 months working to certify over 100 dive students. Angie plans to continue her work as a dive instructor and to create education-based diving programs that teach kids and teens about ocean conservation and marine biology in the classroom and underwater. She is passionate about the ocean and its conservation, particularly the preserving of coral reefs and marine animals. Most recently, Angie spent the last year living in Shanghai teaching English to students aged 3-12. She will be returning to university in September to complete her Bachelor of Education to teach math and biology in Canada to high school students. Angie joined Broadreach last summer leading the Bonaire Advanced Scuba 12-Day Adventure. This year she is excited to be leading the Bali & Lombok Scuba Adventure and work with her students to get involved with the community and help them become more confident divers. To her students, she says “I can't wait to meet you and explore a new culture together! If you aren't already in love with diving then I promise you that the advanced courses will make you realize your new passion.”
