Greetings from the second highest capital city in the world – Quito! With great views of the clouds settling over mountainous Quito and visits from hummingbirds and butterflies, I settled into the tranquilo atmosphere of weekend village life. While I was surrounded by nature and eagerly anticipating the arrival of the group, everyone else was flying at cruising altitude en route to the biodiversity trip of a lifetime here in Ecuador!
The next two weeks will take us from the rich jungle life in the Amazon to untouched cloud forests in the Andes to the much explored but still awe inspiring Galapagos. We will explore field research methods, travel through the jungle canopy, paddle along rivers in dugout canoes, and observe every creature we can spot!
We'll keep everyone apprised of our activities and great sightings on our trek across the Amazon, Andes and Galapagos!
Best from the land of the equator!
