Meet your Instructors!

Tuesday, July 19, 2022

Meet the instructors who will be leading this amazing Broadreach program this summer! With their breadth of expertise and love of adventure, they are thrilled to embark on this journey full of unforgettable experiences and life-long memories.

Alston Lewis
Alston was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, and grew up sailing on a nearby lake. His love of sailing led him to multiple sailing trips in the British Virgin Islands and French Polynesia. He recently graduated from Furman University with degrees in biochemistry and history and will be starting medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in the fall. Alston is an Eagle Scout and has spent a lot of time outdoors as well as many summers as a sailing camp counselor. He became interested in the French language on a trip to France and Switzerland. He has sought out opportunities to learn and practice the language and now speaks conversational French. In Alston’s free time, he loves doing almost anything outside. Alston loves sailing (of course) but also enjoys scuba diving, backpacking, kayaking and hanging out with friends. He can’t wait to spend the summer sharing his love of the ocean with new sailors!

Bianca Sevigny
Prior to Broadreach, Bianca has been teaching scuba diving for over 10 years. Born in Quebec, Canada, Bianca grew up in Florida before returning to her native Canada to study marine biology at Dalhousie University. After graduating, she joined the Canadian Armed Forces; she is currently still in the reserves, where she runs her unit’s dive team. Bianca loves the outdoors; a fun fact about her is that she bought a piece of land and started her own farm! Most recently, she has been living in Nicaragua where she works as a dive instructor while continuing distance work with the military. In her free time, she loves diving (of course!), as well as climbing, hiking, kayaking, rugby, surfing and pretty much anything outdoors! Bianca can’t wait to learn and explore the ocean with her students this summer!
